Ogemaw Township
The village of Ogemaw Springs is one of the oldest settlements of Ogemaw County. In 1870, Ogemaw Springs had one of the first post offices in the county.
1871 is generally considered the beginning of lumbering operations in Ogemaw County. Progress in lumbering was closely tied to progress in railroads, since there were not sufficient waterways to provide dependable transportation. In 1872, the railroad was constructed as far as Ogemaw Springs, and then came to a halt with the onset of winter. Property was purchased for the lumber, and then sold to farmers after the lumber was gone.
The plat of Ogemaw Springs was recorded on January 28, 1879. The Mineral Springs Park was part of that plat . The Park had a public well that was the main water source for the village at the time. The well still exists today, and has been named a historical site.
In the election to decide the County Seat, Ogemaw Springs lost to West Branch by one vote.

Meeting Schedule
Ogemaw Township Board Meetings
Ogemaw Township Board Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:00 PM, unless otherwise posted. Meetings provide residents with an opportunity to stay informed about township business, upcoming projects, community updates, and decisions affecting Ogemaw Township.
Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and participate in the public comment portion of the meeting. Any schedule changes or special meetings will be posted in advance.

Election Information
For the convenience and security of residents, a secure absentee ballot drop box is available on the north wall of the Ogemaw Township building.
The drop box is monitored by surveillance cameras and is designated only for absentee ballots. Residents are encouraged to use this secure option when returning absentee ballots and should ensure ballots are submitted according to election deadlines and requirements.
